More than Conquerors - Part 6

By Remembering Jesus's Promises to Overcomers

This is the last part of the short series on living in accordance with:

Romans 8v37
... we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

In this, as in all things Christian, the key is to actually believe the Bible. We are strengthened and encouraged to live like conquerors:

By remembering Jesus's promises to overcomers

Remember that "conqueror" and "overcomer" are the same word in Greek.

Here is what He Himself has promised, in His letters to the seven churches of Revelation:

Revelation 2v7
... To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Revelation 2v11
... He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

Revelation 2v17
... To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.

Revelation 2v26-28
...To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations - 'He will rule them with an iron sceptre; he will dash them to pieces like pottery' - just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star.

Revelation 3v5
... He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

Revelation 3v12
... Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

Revelation 3v21
To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Later in Revelation, He also says this:

Revelation 21v5-7
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

May God grant us grace to believe that He meant what He said and to rely on His promises.

May we remember to look forward to our reward for enduring suffering!

1 John 3v2-3
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

May God grant us the grace to trust Him in the dark days, to know that He is both omnipotent and wholly good, and to continue to believe in our eternal salvation.
